Austria Ski Resorts For The Pros

Perhaps one of the better known Austria Ski Resorts is Innsbruk, capital city of Tyrol. It’s a beautiful city and an Olympic center within two hours of three airports, so getting there is not a problem. The Innsbruk Glacier Ski Pass allows access to all seven nearby resorts with free bus pick up from your hotel. It is one of the best deals in Europe and with a super premium pass you can also ski in St. Anton and Kitzbuhel including the one hour transfer. Skiing in the Innsbruk area is year-round and they have recently added snowmaking ability to enhance the natural snowfall.

While most of the trails are labeled intermediate, there are a very at the very top of the mountain that are for experts only. The snowboarding is also excellent in the area. The two Olympic sites are Patscherkofl and Axamer Lizium above the village of Ingl. There is a variety of terrain, mostly intermediate, but you can find a challenge on the championship course. There are two very long runs reserved until the end of the day which terminate in two of the local villages. Bergusel added a ski jump stadium a few years ago with lifts for jumpers and spectators. Afterwards you can enjoy some refreshment at the spectacular panorama café.

Innsbruk equipment rental gives excellent service. Skiers are picked up at their motel, fitted and then returned to the hotel. When the equipment is no longer needed, it is picked up and returned to the shop. There are a number of cross country trails and a free bus with an instructor links these areas to the city six days a week.

After a day on the slopes, you can enjoy yourself at the hotel bars or in the village at one of the cafes, clubs, or piano bars. With a university nearby, the students provide a lively nightlife scene. The Hoffgarten Café has good food, music, and dancing and there is a very modern casino with slot machines, roulette and blackjack if you’re feeling lucky.

You can certainly check out other offerings in Austria, but with access to seven resorts

near Innsbruk, I doubt you’ll find a better value for your money. There are plenty of hotels and chalets for lodging. Austria ski resorts will be a destination you’ll look forward to visiting more than once.
