Beaver Creek Ski Resorts For Great Family Fun

Beaver Creek Ski Resorts have been described as combining Western hospitality with European charm in an Alpine village setting. It opened for business in December of 1980 and hosted the 1989 World Ski Championship. For the last few years Beaver Creek has been host to the Birds of Prey World Cup Downhill Race for competitors from all over the world. Located in the Colorado Mountains near the Vail resort, Beaver Creek offers summer and winter activities.

The resort consists of three distinct villages. Beaver Creek Village is the heart of the resort and is home to a variety of unique shops, art galleries, bars and restaurants. There is an ice rink, ski and snowboard school, and Small World Play School, all connected by heated walkways and escalators. It is a ski in village connected to teashops by ski trails and bridges. Accommodations include hotel rooms, condos and bed and breakfasts.

Bachelor Gulch is home to the Ritz Carlton with its award winning restaurant and outdoor bar and patio. Vacation rental homes are also available in this village. There is a free shuttle to Beaver Creek Village, so it’s easy to explore the shops and restaurants there.

The third village is Arrowhead Village. Accommodations include rental homes and condos.

This is a family friendly resort. They offer full and half day child and nursery care at the Small World Play Center. There are numerous family activities. Disco skate night at the ice rink is a popular attraction. There are twilight snowshoe tours, night skiing, and ski with a ranger programs. Some require parental permission and are suitable for older children and more skilled skiers. The Haymaker Tubing Hill provides a fun activity for kids of all ages. Beavo is a twelve session snowboarding class for children. In fact you can book private or group lessons for skiing and boarding online before you arrive.

For the adults there is nightlife at the performing arts center, bars, and restaurants. If you are able to go at the end of January, Beaver Creek Resorts hosts The Master Chef Classic with Bon Appetit magazine. It is similar to an Iron Chef competition and local chefs as well as celebrity chefs compete. There is a full line up of tastings, seminars, and cooking classes.
