Canadian Ski Resorts For Some Real Ice And Snow
If you love to ski and are longing to try somewhere different, check out the Canadian ski resorts. It’s not so far from home, but it will seem like you’re a world away. You won’t need to learn a new language either. Our neighbor to the North has a lot to offer vacationers.
North America’s best ski resort is thought to be Whistler/Blackcomb. Whistler Village resorts are at the bottom of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. The coastal location provides the longest ski season in Canada. This resort has everything from five star luxury accommodations to more budget friendly options. Whatever you choose, you’ll enjoy all the area has to offer.
Banff, Lake Louise, and Sunshine are often thought of as “The Big 3”: Mt. Norquay in Banff, Lake Louise Mountain Resort, and Sunshine Village. Packages include lift tickets for all three mountains and free shuttle transport to and from Banff. This area is about a 1 ½ hour drive from Calgary International Airport. The climate is cold and dry providing excellent powder. There are 26 lifts and over 240 runs combined.
One of Canada’s newest resorts, Kicking Horse is located in Golden, B.C. and is surrounded by six National Parks. This is the place for anyone who wants to test their abilities on the slopes. There are 5 lifts and 106 runs. The town of golden has several restaurants and cafes to visit after a day of skiing.
Tremblant is one of the largest resorts in central Canada and has a large variety of activities for skiers and boarders of all abilities. It is a very family friendly resort and offers free guided ski tours of the mountain.
If you’re looking for excitement, the Western Region offers Heli-skiing and Snowcat skiing. These are special ski adventures offered on half day, full day or up to seven day packages including certified guides. You will access peaks that can only be reached by helicopter. Ok, I’m scared already. Where’s the bunny slope? You daredevils can go on without me. Seriously though, even intermediate skiers can enjoy this experience. If you choose the Snowcat skiing, you are also transported by snowcat to remote mountain areas and make one of several descents.
There are many more Canadian Ski resorts than the ones mentioned here. After all Canada is a big country. If you check around, you can get a great deal on a resort perfect for you.
