Family Ski Resort For The Ultimate In Family Fun

When planning a vacation at a family ski resort, there are a few things to keep in mind. If you have very young children you want to be sure to inquire about child care services. A lot of family friendly ski resorts offer some sort of child care. This will allow you to enjoy yourself without worrying about your small children all the time. You also want to be sure there are activities that everyone will enjoy. There should also be family friendly accommodations. Generally suites, condos, or rental houses work well for this purpose.

The resort should have some beginner slopes and ideally offer ski or snowboarding lessons. Older children are not going to want to be tied to their parents every second, so some resorts have made life easier for all concerned by offering GPS locaters. Your older children can ski on by themselves and you can track where they are on the mountain while you are enjoying yourself. Theres no question that all resorts consider safety to be a priority and most have supervised activities for all ages.

Lake Placid Resort in Upstate New York has a number of family friendly activities including visiting the Olympic Park or trying out the bobsled run. Oktoberfest has rides and all kinds of amusements for children with music and German food for everyone. Okemo Mountain, near Ludlow, Vermont has the reputation for having some of the best snow in the Northeast. Free skiing and riding for kids under six years of age is a great advantage for the budget conscious. There are two daycare centers for small children and evening care on selected nights. They also have a great ski and snowboard school.

Aspen, Breckenridge and Copper Mountain in Colorado all have wonderful programs for kids. There are sleigh rides with picnics in the woods, beginner terrain parks, snowboarding and tubing, and snow sculpture championships in January. Day care if offered as well as GPS or walkie-talkie tracking for older children skiing on their own.

In California Mammoth Mountain and Northstar at Tahoe offer moderately priced family fun. Both have beginner slopes, lessons, and adventure and tubing parks. Family friendly condos and homes provide nice accommodations and you can also get high chairs and DVDs to entertain the little ones. Complimentary shuttle service will help you get around the resort with ease.

Most resorts make an effort to be family friendly these days, but its wise to do some research and see what is best for your needs. There is a family ski resort in most ski areas and you can find one at a price that will be affordable.
