Michigan Ski Resorts: Choosing The Best
Many people prefer a vacation on the slopes to one on the beach. If you'll be taking a ski vacation in the Michigan area, you'll be glad to know there are a variety of Michigan ski resorts from which you can choose. In this article, you'll learn more about some of the finest ski holiday destinations in this beautiful state.
The Boyne Highlands resort is one of Michigan's finest and has something to offer everyone. You'll adore the rustic lodging choices, which offer gorgeous decor and amenities such as whirlpool tubs, cable television, Internet access and much more. However, with all the adventure that awaits you, it's unlikely that you'll spend much time in your room! At Boyne, you can ski and snowboard on two incredible mountains with one lift ticket. On the 846 acres, there are slopes for beginners and experts alike, as well as incredible terrains for snowboarders featuring rails, hits and jumps. You'll also find ice skating, carriage rides, spas, fitness centers, and more. Dining at the Boyne Highlands is another great experience. In the morning, grab a latte at Das Cafe. After dark, it's all about night spots like the fun Snowflake Lounge. Whether your idea of fun is speeding down the side of a snowy mountain or shopping til you drop, this resort delivers!
Crystal Mountain Resort is another fantastic ski resort in the state of Michigan. This resort was even voted the number one in the Midwest in 2005 by Ski Magazine. There are 45 amazing downhill runs for skiers to enjoy. After dark, 27 of those runs are beautifully illuminated for night skiing. Snowboarders will love the variety of terrain parks and 600 feet of half-pipe. If you need lessons, this resort offers programs suitable for both children and adults. You can choose to take a class, or sign up for private instruction. Other activities offered at Crystal Mountain include ice skating, carriage rides, moonlight hiking, and even kid-friendly fun like the Snow Mountains Story Time and Build a Buddy Workshop. Accommodations include luxurious condos and townhomes close to the main area of the resort, which includes not only the mountain but great shopping and dining as well.
Another good choice is the Treetops Resort located in northern Michigan. Although this resort is open year round, its most spectacular season is the winter. In the winter months, Treetops offers downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, snowmobiling and carriage rides. Accommodations at this luxury resort include rooms at the main lodge as well as amazing condos and chalets for guests to choose from. If you love great food, Treetops has it. Legends restaurant offers incredible gourmet cuisine, while the sports bar the Broken Club Pub sells 60 different types of beer and tavern favorites like pizza and appetizers.
No matter which one of the various Michigan ski resorts you end up choosing, you're sure to have the vacation of a lifetime!
