Mountain Ski Resort For The True Ski Lover
There are those among us who love the winter time. Count me out, but for those who anxiously await the first snowfall, I do understand the anticipation of ski season. I happen to live in the Northeast and as soon as snow can be made, there is a solid line of cars from downstate heading to a mountain ski resort every weekend. There are quite a few in our area and we’re very close to the ones in Vermont. I remember when we moved here, my husband was advised to get me interested in winter sports. He replied that it would first be necessary to get me out of the house. That’s true. I am a Southern girl through and through and while snow is beautiful to look at, I have no desire to frolic in it.
For those of you who love to ski, a mountain ski resort has activates to keep you entertained all winter long. They are every bit as accommodating to the people who visit for day as the ones who spend a week or two. We’re lucky here that the mountains are just a short drive away, so a day of skiing is definitely a possibility after a long week at work. If you live in a warmer climate and want to spend a week or two skiing, check out the resorts. There is sure to be one within a reasonable distance and many offer transportation packages to get you there if driving isn’t an option.
Most mountain ski resorts are built around one or more small towns or villages. Some may be anchored by a large resort hotel, while others rely on smaller inns and lodges to provide a place to stay. Many larger resorts also have condo or town house rentals in addition to private home rentals. If you’re traveling with a group it may make more sense to rent a house or condo and split the cost. There may be many other activities such as ice skating, sleigh rides, snowshoeing, or hiking. For the indoor folks like me, the shopping will be an attraction. Resort areas seem to attract a large variety of quaint shops to explore as well as restaurants and bars. Most large resort hotels also have live entertainment and other scheduled activities like moonlight skiing.
Mountain ski resorts are not limited to winter only vacation options. Those built around lakes and rivers offer a great summer trip too. You can swim, hike, horeback ride, and explore the beautiful countryside. Summer or winter, there is lots to do, so have a great trip.
