Looking For Ski Resort Deals?

For those of you who love winter sports, a ski resort will be the perfect vacation. Many people will say to get the best ski resort deals, wait until the last minute. This may not always be true. Yes, there can be last minute cancellations and good deals to be had, but you don’t really want to jeopardize your hard earned vacation. In this economy, many people are not taking vacations and the ski resorts are competing for your business, so it may be worth your time to check out some ski resort hotels and see what packages they are offering.

If you are on a really tight budget, an all inclusive package may be your best option. You’ll know how much you have to spend and what’s included before you go. It will be much easier to budget. Some packages include airfare, lodging, lift tickets and even rental cars. Sometimes one or more meals may be included. These are not written in stone, you can customize them. If you live nearby, you may not need airfare or a rental car. One thing I know is that I do not like expensive surprises, so I like to have an idea of what I will need to spend. When you research an all inclusive package, make sure you know exactly what you are paying for and get it in writing.

Many ski resorts offer lower prices during non peak times. Of course, if you want to go during Christmas vacation, you will pay more. Even the day of the week can make a difference. Mid week prices are often lower and many resort hotels will give you a night free after you stay three or four nights. There are often discounts if you are a member of an auto club like AAA. One important thing to remember is to ask when you book your trip. I have very often gotten a discount just by asking if there are any available. Our Gulf Motor Club put out a booklet every year called Hotels at Half Price. It also included a list of restaurants in every state that gave discounts. I was reluctant to use it at first. They could not be very nice places to stay, could they? I was pleasantly surprised to find some very nice places that honored our card with no problem.

Of course, travel agencies and online sources like Orbitz, Hotels.Com, or Travelocity do the work for you. They usually have a list of the latest deals offered by all kinds of resorts. If you have a particular place in mind, call them directly and see what specials are offered. With a little effort, you can get some ski resort deals that will make your trip much more affordable.
