Ski Resort Jobs For FUn And Profit

If you’re over eighteen years of age, friendly, outgoing, and enjoy the outdoors, a ski resort job may be a great choice for you. While some jobs are seasonal, many resorts are open year-round. There are a variety of positions, both indoors and out that would appeal to someone who loves being in the hotel industry.

Of course, if you are interested in resort or hotel management, working at the front desk would be a great entry level position. If you already have a degree, what better place to put your education to use? Someone who really enjoys a wide a variety of people and has a desire to help others would do well working at a resort. You cannot overlook the perks of working in a beautiful setting and most places offer free or discounted amenities to their employees.

Groomers and lift operators have the advantage of working outside. I have a friend who works in landscaping during the summer, but winter finds him operating the lift at a local ski facility. He loves being outdoors and he gets to ski for free when he has a day off. Many of the ski resorts I researched offer room and board, salary, ski passes, and rental equipment to their employees. Most are housed in a dormitory setting with two to four people in a room. In addition to meals and ski privileges, a lot of places have organized activities for their employees. It sounds a lot like college without the studying.

If you’re an accomplished skier, there are jobs with the ski patrol. Perhaps you might prefer instructing adults or children. There are jobs for ski instructors and snow board instructors. I can’t think of anything better than being able to do something you love all day and get paid for it. You can’t ignore the social aspect of it either. Think of all the people you will meet while sharing your knowledge of the sport.

In addition to front desk, instructors, ski lift operators, and groomers, there are lots of other ski resort jobs. Most lodges and resorts have restaurant facilities and they will need wait staff, busboys, and kitchen help. Housekeeping always needs help. Bellmen and room service attendants are also in demand. If I were a young person, I think I would jump at the chance to work at a resort. It would be a great experience, and who knows, it could lead you to the career of your dreams.
