Switzerland Ski Resorts Are For Anyone Who Enjoys Beauty And A Makestic View

You can’t really talk about Switzerland ski resorts without mentioning the most famous one, St. Moritz. It is the number one playground of the rich and famous with five major ski areas, 220 miles of slopes, and 115 miles of cross country trails served by 56 lifts. Set high in the Engadine Valley, St. Moritz’s frozen lake is host to a number of unique activities such as ice golf, cricket, polo, and even ice horse racing.

Some of the world’s most luxurious hotels are in St. Moritz. Open since 1896, Badrutt’s Palace has 165 rooms and 30 suites, 7 restaurants, 3 bars, a health spa and gym, and its own Rolls Royce limousine. Other five star accommodations include Kempinksi St. Moritz and the family friendly Suvretta House. Suvretta House offers kindergarten and the Teddy Bear Club restaurant exclusively for children. They have lively après-ski scene at the Kings Club, The Crystal Hotel, or Hanselmann’s, to name a few. St, Moritz is also home to a large number of designer shops. All hotels offer easy access to the ski areas and lifts.

The Oberland Region offers an opportunity to try a new ski location every day if you choose. Situated on Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, Interlaken boasts five star hotels, apartments and chalets. You can ski Jungfrau, Eiger, or Monch all in this area. Jungfrau is known as the rooftop of the world and Schilthorn and other parts of the region were made famous in the James Bond film “Her Majesty’s Secret Service.” The Eiger is one of the most challenging peaks in the Alps and has lured mountain climbers from all over the world.

Central Switzerland also known as the Lake Lucerne Region and has a number of ski resorts within easy reach of cities and airports. Skiers and snowboarders alike will find well groomed pistes of different degrees of difficulty. Andermatt is one the oldest villages in Switzerland. They have lodging for about 1500 people on site and there are additional hotels in surrounding communities. Nightlife is not as glitzy as the St.Moritz area, but there are clubs, restaurants and a casino. Sorenberg is a picturesque ski resort and also has an Alpine horn blowing school, yodeling club, and cheese making tours.

While I am not all that interested in skiing, Switzerland is a place I have always wanted to visit. Just to see the Alps would be the experience of a life time. Even if you’re not a fan of outdoor winter activities, humor your partner who is and check out Switzerland ski resorts. There are plenty of activities even for the non skiers among us.
